How Junk Recyclers and Hosanna Lutheran Church Teamed Up for Metal Recycling Day
What a phenomenal turnout! We are absolutely thrilled to share the incredible results of our recent Metal Recycling Day, where Junk Recyclers partnered up with the amazing congregation at Hosanna Lutheran Church.
When we first envisioned this event, we hoped to help our neighbors clear out some clutter and keep a few heavy items out of the landfill. But our community completely blew us away. Together, we turned routine cleanup into a massive win for environmental sustainability and local community support.
Here is a look at what we accomplished together by the numbers:
- 150+ Community Members: Over 150 neighbors loaded up their trucks, trunks, and trailers to drop off materials.
- 28,000+ Pounds of Metal: We collected, sorted, and hauled away more than 14 tons of scrap metal!
Giving Old Metal a Next Life
From old rusted appliances and broken patio furniture to outdated electronics, copper piping, and forgotten lawnmowers, the variety of items dropped off was astounding.
Instead of letting these materials sit in basements, rust away in backyards, or end up taking up precious space in our local landfills, we packed up our trailers and brought every single pound directly to the salvage yard. By ensuring these materials hit the scrap yard rather than the dump, they will be processed, melted down, and recycled into raw materials for new products.
Recycling metal consumes significantly less energy than mining raw materials, meaning this event directly helped conserve natural resources and reduce carbon emissions right here in our region.
